During the 2014 Southwest Trauma and Acute Care Symposium, Dr. Robert C. Mackersie MD, FACS presents his lecture on Portal Triad Injuries. Dr. Mackersie highlights how this is a relatively uncommon injuries leading to healthcare providers with limited experience and limited data to refer to. Portal Triad Injuries have 35-65% mortality rate with 85% of deaths within 48 hours. The main 3 elements ranked from easiest to more difficult are common duct injuries, hepatic artery injuries, and portal vein/SMV injuries. Dr. Robert C.
