Hello, I’m Jason Vandygriff with Tin Star Films. I’m here to talk to you about my next short film, "A Serious Predicament".

"A Serious Predicament" is a psychological horror gangster film with a twist.

It’s about the aftermath of a job gone bad, where small time gangster Charlie McNulty ends up alone having a 3am drink at a local dive bar. A visit by his mentor, Frank Fretelli, makes Charlie begin to question his own sanity, as the world closes in on him.

It’s very much influenced by the works of Martin Scorsese, David Fincher and Stanley Kubrick with a little dash of Terry Gilliam in there.

Another big influence is Robert Rodriguez’s film From Dusk Till Dawn. In that film, Tarantino wrote a masterful gangster story in the first half of the movie that does a complete 180 in the second half, by becoming one of the great vampire films of all time.

That’s what I want with A Serious Predicament. A genre shift halfway through the film, that catches the audience completely off guard. There will be elements that make you question one character's mental stability and reliability as a our narrator and the probability that another character could be the devil himself or even just figment of our imagination. That is the kind of story I’m wanting to tell.

We have two amazing character actors signed on for the lead roles. Scotty Walker, who has acted in films like Domestic Hell, Spring Breakdown and Bloody Drama. Also we have Chance Gibbs who has acted in TV shows like Murder Made Me Famous and the remake of Dallas, to films like Fearless Faith, Leave Only Footprints and my most recent film, Her Look.

Chance will play Charlie McNulty, a small time gangster trying to figure out his next move, after a job gone bad. Scotty Walker will play Frank Fretelli, a shady figure in the neighborhood with a dark side, who has been Charlie’s mentor for as long as he can remember.

The script is done, the actors have been cast, now this is where you come in. Most of the budget will be self financed by me, like my past films. I’m asking for your help to make this film even better with your contribution. A higher budget means we will be able to hire a professional sound recordist, to make our dialogue sound like a Hollywood film. We also will be able to afford special FX makeup artists and the materials they’ll need to create a bloody good time for everybody to see. These little extras, along with post production costs will help this film’s quality and chance to be seen by a wider audience.
