Bonney Shuman (BBA ‘80) co-founded Bar Code Systems in 1983, which later became Stratix Corp.
She served as president and chief executive officer until she sold the company in 2011. Stratix Corp. helped hundreds of end users, distributors, and other organizations gain a competitive advantage by utilizing barcoding and other forms of automatic data capture.
During her tenure at Stratix, Shuman served as the president of AIM USA, the automatic data capture trade association; was a board member of Women in Packaging; and served on the Georgia Women’s Business Council. She serves as a trustee of the UGA Foundation (serving as treasurer and finance chair) and is past president of the University of Georgia Alumni Association.
She is on the executive committee of the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation and is treasurer of Christ Church, Frederica. Shuman majored in finance while at the Terry College.
She is married to Billy Shuman. They have two children: Billy Shuman Jr., a recent graduate of UGA, and Mary Ellen Shuman, a 2020 graduate from UGA Law.
