This beautiful red evening gown (c. 1898-1900) was originally owned and worn by Elizabeth Ferriday (Mrs. Charles Neave). The gown was donated to the New Canaan Historical Society by her grandson, Alexander Neave, who grew up in New Canaan and attended Country School during his childhood. The New Canaan Historical Society previously displayed the dress in 1994 during an exhibition called “Nineties Women of Leisure- 1890s”.
