A police guard opened fire at a group of foreign medical workers at the U.S. charity-run Cure International hospital in western Kabul, killing three and injuring another on Thursday (April 24) morning.
A member of the Afghan Police Protection Force standing guard at the hospital opened fire on a group of six foreigners working as medical staff. Three male doctors in the group were killed and at least one medic was also injured in the shooting.
An Interior Ministry official said that the shooter is wounded and is being held in police custody. His motive for the attack is not yet clear.
This attack, the latest in a series targeted at foreigners in Afghanistan, comes after two Associated Press staff were shot by police earlier this month.
