The greatest textbook on witchcraft, magic and the occult from the early modern period is virtually unknown today: Martin Del Rio's 1599 Disquisitionum Magicarum (Investigations into Magic). It is a massive tome, often over 1000 pages, and meticulously details the nature of magic, divination and witchcraft along with detailed instructions for the prosecution of Witchcraft. Indeed, it would supplant the horrid Malleus Maleficarum as the single most important source for Demonologists during the Witch Hunts. Let's explore this most important textbook, used by Inquisitors and Necromancers alike.
