(6 Nov 1994) UN Bosnia commander General Sir Michael Rose called on the Bosnian
government vice-president Ejup Ganic in Sarajevo on Sunday (6/11)
and delivered a rebuke for the shelling last night in which
Bosnian Government mortars fired from Hrasnica to the Serb
district of Ildja. Ganic insisted the mainly Moslem government side is obeying the rules, and said the Serbs were ignoring the NATO and
UN rules, and trying to compensate for losses of territory in
other parts of Bosnia by shelling round Sarajevo. Speaking after
the meeting to reporters, General Rose said the consequences of
the latest incidents could cause the unravelling of the whole
peace process. He said he hoped for a meeting on Monday at the
airport for talks which could lead towards a permanent DMZ
(demilitarised zone) around Sarajevo.
