What's a Trinbagonian Christmas without Sorrel (Roselle/Hibiscus Subdariffa)? This Sorrel concentrate or syrup will make your holiday preparation a little easier. Use this to make a Sorrel Drink ( add a tablespoon of this concentrate to a glass of water, and adjust to your liking). Alcohol can also be added to this. I used this to make a Trini Fruit Cake/Black Cake/Rum Cake, as well as a Sorrel-Glazed Sponge Cake ([ Ссылка ]).
You will need:
2 cups of dried or fresh Sorrel sepals
2 cups of Water
4-6 Bay Leaves
2 sticks of Cinnamon sticks or ground Cinnamon
2 teaspons of Grated Ginger
2 teaspoons of Orange Zest
6-8 Cloves
1 cup of Brown Sugar
Alcohol can be added as well (after the heat is turned off)
