Now this is a perfect marriage of America and Ireland!
This is a special edition of a whiskey from Whistler Whiskey, which is only available in Spec's Wines, Spirits and Finer Foods in Texas.
It was gifted to us after we visited the Boann Distillery and we recently opened it after Rose became an Irish citizen, as it's a great symbol of America and Ireland coming together!
It's a Single barrel whiskey, which spent the first 11 years of its life in bourbon barrels, before being finished for 14 months in Jose Maria Fonseca Moscatel casks. It also comes in at a cask strength of 56.87%!

Tasting Notes:
Nose:
The influence from the moscatel cask is immediately apparent, with cranberry and tart raspberry notes. The high ABV lets it have a strong presence in the glass, but it's still sweet with caramel and a touch of walnut.
Palate:
The ABV is obvious, but rather than the whiskey being syrupy, it comes across like a rich red wine, with plenty of sweetness and oak spice giving a little bit of tingle in your cheeks. Again, the wine influence is very apparent.
Finish:
On the finish, the sweet berry notes fade relatively quickly, with the oak spice coming more and more to the front, as the ABV lets the finish linger for a nice long time.
