The first genocide of the 20th century was carried out in present-day Namibia. At the turn of the last century, some 80,000 people were massacred by German colonial forces. The victims were members of the Nama and Herero communities. Today, their descendants want reparations from Germany and have filed a lawsuit in the United States. Ahead of the trial in New York, Caroline Dumay and Stefan Carstens report from Namibia.
