#med (Music.Every.Day)

Day 373 of my video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of new piano music (almost) every day!

Dindi was composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim. The lyrics were written by Aloysio de Oliveira. English lyrics were penned by Ray Gilbert. This arrangement can be found in the book Jazz Piano Solos - Antonio Carlos Jobim.

This world-famous bossa nova tune was written for singer Sylvia Telles. "Dindi" refers to a farm in Brazil named "Dirindi". According to Jobim's sister, it was a place that Jobim and his friend/collaborator Vinicius de Moraes used to visit. From the sound of the song, it was a very idyllic place!

This arrangement is very smooth--lots of interesting rhythm and interplay between the hands. The texture sounds like an old style film score to me! Really lovely to play and learn.
