5:49 “La Vie en Rose”
Edith Piaf
Featuring Staff Sgts. Matthew Richardson and Dan Campolieta
The lyrics of “La Vie en Rose” articulate timeless themes of love, romance, and resilience, and it’s one of Edith Piaf’s most famous and beloved songs. It has been covered and interpreted by many famous artists, including Louis Armstrong (who sang an English Interpretation of the lyrics) and Lady Gaga, who sang it in French in “A Star is Born.” Many people recognize this work as an anthem of hope as it was released shortly after the end of World War 2.
#DYK Edith Piaf was discovered while singing on the streets of Paris by a Champs-Elysees nightclub owner, who started her career and gave her the nickname La Môme Piaf, "The Little Sparrow" - little comes from the fact she was 4 feet 8 inches tall.
Staff Sgt. Matthew Richardson is from Dubuque, Iowa and has a Bachelor’s Degree from the Eastman School of Music. Staff Sgt. Dan Campolieta is from Simsbury, Connecticut and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organ Performance and Music Education from the University of Connecticut.

This song is part of the Army Chorus’ International Folk Songs Project.
