Congress leader MB Patil categorically denies any power sharing arrangement between senior leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar in Karnataka. Patil asserts that if there was indeed a power sharing formula, it would have been officially announced by the party's high command. He further confirms that Siddaramaiah will continue to hold the position of Chief Minister for the full five-year term. While deliberations and meetings are ongoing to decide on the next Chief Minister, sources indicate that there have been discussions about a potential power sharing arrangement of 30 months each between DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.
Sources suggest that DK Shivakumar had initially demanded the top post for the first half of his tenure. However, the focus now shifts towards governance, the welfare of the people, and the betterment of the state and country, as emphasized by Shivakumar. On May 20, both Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar took oath as ministers, and the swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of leaders from like-minded parties.
Congress achieved a decisive mandate in the Karnataka Assembly election, securing 135 seats and successfully ousting the BJP from power. The BJP managed to secure a distant second position with 66 seats, while the JD(S) fell short with only 19 seats. However, the Congress party continues to grapple with internal political conflicts.
