Account Abstraction is a concept of treating smart contracts the same way as user account. This is currently a popular topic in Ethereum, in part thanks to layer 2 solutions that have made Account Abstraction the default behavior for their protocols.
Cardano also has multiple ongoing workstreams to enable Account Abstraction at the layer 1, notably:
- CIP38 to extend native script to support script conditions
- Collateral paying service to allow smart contract wallets to have collateral
- Conclave to enable stake pools to be owned by scripts
