This medieval castle is known as Akershus Castle and was completed around the 13th century at the same time Oslo became Norway’s capital. Places like this are like time capsules that transport us back into time, giving the explores such as us a glimpse into time and the lives of people who came before us. This medieval castle was remodeled to a renaissance palace and extended the area with bastions and external walls in the first half of the 16th century.
1814 the area became a military establishment following the closure of Akershus as an operative fortress.
