"BBC Middle East correspondent Quentin Somerville was just trying to report on the narcotics trade in Afghanistan, but learned the hard way that one needs to be careful where they stand in relation to a bonfire full of drugs.
“Burning behind me is eight-and-a-half tonnes of heroin, opium, hashish and other narcotics,” Somerville began, and then boom, he got high. It’s near-instantaneous.
Somerville, known for maintaining his journalistic composure in the face of terrorist attacks and violent protests throughout the Middle East, tweeted the blooper video of him and his cameraman tripping balls. “Dear tweeps, it’s been a year of bullets & bloodshed,” he wrote, before deleting it due to copyright issues. “You’ve earned a xmas laugh, at my expense .” *
