The Kenya national Union of teachers has now revealed that it will be pushing for a 60 percent pay rise for teachers across all cadres, to implement the 2021-2025 collective bargaining agreement.
Speaking in Kisumu today, KNUT secretary general Collins Oyuu revealed that some teachers had stagnated at one job group for years due to the harsh economic times with previous CBAs having focused on better packages for school heads and school administrators. Oyuu was speaking in Kisumu, where the union will be having its annual delegates conference beginning Wednesday, where over 2000 members from 115 branches will be represented. Other issues to be discussed in the NDC include the delocalisation of teachers, criteria for promotion of teachers as well as the formation of a teachers’ appeal tribunal to handle disciplinary cases against teachers
