Logan and I, with local guide and friend Ramiro San Martine of Junin Los Andes, climbed and skied Volcan Lanin. We climbed the north route via Argentina and then skied the giant East face. With over 8500 feet of ski descent it was one of the most iconic things I've ever done. Staring down the very immense face I thought to myself, "Am I really going to drop down this thing with my 11 year old?" A few Chileans we met on the summit said he was the youngest to ever do something like this. He shrugged and said cool and dropped in. We were the only ones to ski that face. It is very isolated and remote. Such an adventure. Mike Hamilton told me about it years ago when we skied Las Lenas. He tragically passed away early that year in Valdez. Mike was an ICON of skiing mountains. I was so sad to not be able to share it with him. Pretty sure I did in a more spiritual way. As he would always say "Yeah Buddy".
