Cranberry Lake 50 Adirondack Backpack trip
This trip is called the CL50, a 50 mile loop around Cranberry Lake in the Western Adirondacks. It also goes through the beautiful small town of Wanakena as well as Cranberry Lake.
We selected this trip because we didn't need a shuttle driver. We wanted to maintain safe COVID practices. Next month I have to decide if I am going on the 275 mile Long Trail in Vermont (I am leery about a long shuttle drive at the end)
The trip took us through some of the most remote ADK ponds and at times along the banks of the Oswegatchie River. The southern end goes through the remote Five Ponds Wilderness which was our favorite part. We encountered quite a bit of beaver activity as you will see.
Note: I included some pictures of my hornet sting injury at the end. Kind of graphic but wanted others to know not to take multiple stings and to continue hiking lightly. I could not walk the next two days after the trip ended.
