Cope wants Parliament to institute impeachment proceedings against President Jacob Zuma. Its already made a request, but is expected to table a substantive motion in due course. This follows the President's alleged defiance of an order by the Supreme Court of Appeal. The Court ordered the presidency to hand over the abbreviated transcripts of the tapes that permitted criminal charges to be dropped or withdrawn against the president.
