Archive footage of Jakarta, the massive capital of Indonesia, sits on the northwest coast of the island of Java. Architecture, language and cuisine have been influenced by different cultures that have historically lived in the city: Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and European. The old city, Kota Tua, is home to Dutch colonial buildings, Glodok (Jakarta's "Chinatown") and the ancient port of Sunda Kelapa, where wooden schooner ships still dock.
