The Hydraulic Ram Pump uses water to open check valves and forces water up hill. How much water is needed to make the pump work? Also there is loss in the system as the pump operates but how much? In this video my two friends, Austin and Marcus, and I set up a test to find out the answer to these questions.
We find that the 1-1/4" pump needs around 7 gallons per min total to work. 6 of that is lost in the operation of the pump and 1 of that is pumped in 1min time.
