Você sabe o que significa 5w30, 15w40 ou 20w50 ? Fica ligado que hoje vou falar dos tipos de óleo lubrificante.
Hoje no mercado nos deparamos com diversas marcas de óleo e inúmeras especificações, que são essas siglas como 5w30, 15w40 ,entre tantas outras, como se ele é mineral, semissintético ou
100% sintético. Mas você sabe o que isso significa na prática?
Todo óleo lubrificante é feito para se trabalhar em determinados motores, e suportar determinadas temperaturas de trabalho, as siglas é uma indicação da fluidez que o produto vai atingir em determinadas temperaturas.
A classificação numérica que vemos nas embalagens é feita seguindo uma tabela da Sociedade de Engenheiros Automotivos dos Estados Unidos (SAE, na sigla em inglês).
Para começar, quanto menor a viscosidade, menor o número e vice-versa. Ou seja, um óleo classificado como 5 será mais fluído do que um com a classificação 30.
No Brasil, nós costumamos usar óleos de um tipo chamado multi viscosidade. O “W” entre os dois números vem da palavra winter, inverno em inglês. O número anterior à letra representa a viscosidade do produto em temperatura ambiente e o número depois representa a viscosidade com o motor aquecido.
Por exemplo: um óleo 5w30 é mais líquido em temperatura ambiente que um 15w30, mas ambos têm a mesma viscosidade quando o motor está aquecido. Isso permite que o óleo responda melhor a cada tipo de motor, por isso é muito importante seguir as recomendações do fabricante.
A variedade de multi viscosidade existe em todos os tipos de óleo de motor. O principal fator que leva ao uso dessa modalidade no Brasil é que ela é mais amena na hora de dar a partida, mas sustenta bem o desempenho no calor do país.
Já a diferença de mineral, semissintético ou sintético, vem da origem do material.
O óleo mineral é um derivado do petróleo que passa por um tratamento depois de extraído. Ele é mais barato que as outras variedades por exigir menos gasto na produção, mas também tem uma durabilidade menor, de só 5 mil quilômetros.
O óleo semissintético é uma mistura de uma base sintética com o óleo mineral. O resultado é um meio termo entre os dois, o que pode ser bom para motores que lubrificam melhor com o derivado do petróleo, mas precisam de benefícios que só estão disponíveis no produto feito em
laboratório.
É comum associar o óleo semissintético com caminhonetes, que tem motores mais potentes e funcionam melhor com a viscosidade do óleo natural, mas são beneficiadas pela base sintética
na limpeza de borra.
O óleo sintético é aquele completamente fabricado em laboratório, daí a origem do seu nome. Ele é feito para resistir a uma quilometragem maior que a dos outros tipos de óleo de motor.
Por essa resistência, o óleo sintético é mais indicado para veículos que ficam muito tempo na estrada, percorrendo maiores distâncias, e também para carros mais novos.
Mas lembre-se que isso não é uma regra, o ideal, no caso de cada carro, é sempre seguir o manual do proprietário, e o seu carro é mais antigo ou você perdeu o manual, converse com o seu mecânico para decidir qual óleo usar.
