Tuesday, August 15, 2023, Mayor Andre Sayegh, Director Jerry Speziale, and Officer in Charge Isa Abbassi will host a promotion ceremony honoring the achievements of nine outstanding officers from the Paterson Police Department who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to upholding the safety of the Paterson community.
Notably, among the honorees are three officers who share an extraordinary journey. Laid off in 2011 as part of a challenging budget gap period, during which 125 officers were let go, these three individuals from the same academy class faced adversity head-on. When given the opportunity, they each returned to the Paterson Police Department, displaying resilience and determination. Over time, with their merit and dedication, these exceptional officers achieved the rank of Sergeant. Their parallel journeys have again brought them together on their promotion to Lieutenant.
The three individuals promoted to the rank of Lieutenant are:
