What is Traditional Yoga Meditation/Dhyana?
Yoga Meditation is the very process of a comprehensive healing, happening due to comprehensive awareness getting pervasive, even to the cellular and the neuronal levels, culminating into realizing all human possibilities.Dhyana has Dhyai as its root and un as its suffix, thereby meaning “Devotional Longing.” Thus, meditation is an endeavor to restore mind-body-intellect complex Health & Healing, through experiential and transcendental phenomena.
Outline of the Work-Shop:
i) Classical Yoga and Dhyana: Scriptural and Psycho-Physiological Understanding
ii) Concepts of Pratyahara, Samapatti, Dharana & Dhyanaas per Patanjala Yoga Sutra (PYS) and Shiva Samhita
iii) Preparing oneself for Meditative experience, through practices from Upanishadic and Tantra literature: Breathing Awareness Techniques, Sagarbha Pranayama and Kriya Yoga and other techniques towards preparing one for Dharana
iv) Ancient techniquesof Pratyahara& Dharana from Vasishtha Samhita, Siddhasiddhantapaddhati, Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and other scriptures, leading to Dhyana
v) Panch-vidh Akash Dharanaleading to Dhyana. Shiva Samhita Meditation: Concept & practice, with discussion
vi) Antara-lakshya & Pancha Kosha Dharanaleading to Dhyana(as per the concept of Manasah sthitinibandhani found in PYS (I: 35)
vii) Instant Meditation Techniques & tips for daily practice.
