This powerful Slokam on Lord Muruga, 'Vel Maaral' was compiled by Vallimalai Sri Sachchidananda Swamigal based on the first 16 verses of Vel Vaguppu, which was originally composed by Saint Arunagirinathar.

As per the recitation rules of the slokam, the first part is recited 12 times in the beginning and end, as well as repeated after every stanza..

thiruththaNiyil uthiththaruLum oruththanmalai
viruththanena(thu) uLaththiluRai
karuththanmayil nhataththuguhan velae.
