Commentary by Tyler on the FCM Elite evaluation of the JRZ double-adjustable rear dampers we were sent for evaluation.
The damper unfortunately has far too much gas pressure and a delayed opening behavior as a result. This makes the car too 'skittery' and prevents the tires from following the ground and developing the maximum possible grip.
The high gas pressure also raises the vehicle's ride height vs. the lower-pressurized FCM Elite Bilsteins we have built for the ND and other applications.
You always want to MINIMIZE gas pressure to maximize grip and not have the damper act a secondary spring! Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't understand how to really make a car fast, or to achieve optimal grip and comfort.
