Dr Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor to the US President said that the US government has announced an investment of $ 3.2 billion from the American Rescue Plan as a part of a COVID-19 antiviral development strategy.

The program, called Antiviral Program for Pandemics aims to boost the development of new medicines to combat COVID-19 and to also prepare for other pandemic threats posed by families of viruses such as the paramyxoviruses with Nipah and the bunyaviruses with hemorrhagic fevers.
