In Marvel's Dark Venom, Reed Richards extracts the venom symbiote, Ben Grimm stumbles upon a glass container that has the symbiote in it. The Thing then tries to relate with it and eventually opens the container up, making the 2 bond together. Reed tries to stop him but leaves in frustration as he likes the new him. Later he stumbles upon the lizard who after a brief fight offers Ben he can fix his skin condition. However, the lizard betrays Ben and attacks Reed gnawing on his neck. Once Ben arrives he sees this and tackles the Lizard through the window and crushes his head. Letting the symbiote take over him.
