Thai Red Curry with Prawns | Thai Prawns Curry in Coconut Milk Recipe |How to make Prawns Thai Curry
Ingredients :
18 nos (300 gms) Large Prawns (total weight is after peeling & deveining)
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 medium size (70 gms) Onion (finely chopped)
1 tbsp (10 gms) Ginger (finely chopped)
2 tbsp (20 gms) Garlic (finely chopped)
50 gms packet Thai Red Curry Paste (can use any other brand. This is not paid sponsorship)
40 gms Red Bell Peppers (sliced into strips)
40 gms Green Bell Peppers (sliced into strips)
40 gms Carrots (sliced into strips)
1 tbsp Fish Sauce
1 tsp Lime Juice
1 tsp Brown Sugar
400 ml can Coconut Cream/Milk (can use any brand or homemade. This is not paid sponsorship)
5 to 6 nos Thai Basil Leaves (torn into half)
2 to 3 nos Thai Red Chillies (for presentation)
Homemade Red Curry Paste :
2 tablespoons chili powder (preferably mild or medium)
1 tablespoon paprika (for color)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove of minced garlic
1 teaspoon ginger powder or 1 inch of fresh ginger, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce or fish sauce (for umami)
1 teaspoon lemongrass paste or zest of 1 lime (optional for extra flavor)
1 teaspoon onion powder or 1 small shallot, minced
Mix all these ingredients together to form a paste. You can adjust the amounts according to taste. This mixture won't replicate the exact flavor of store-bought red curry paste, but it will provide a similar profile that works well in recipes.
ANY ALTERNATIVE TO FISH SAUCE ? :
Yes, there are a few alternatives to fish sauce. Depending on the flavor you're aiming for, you can use soy sauce or tamari for a similar salty, umami taste. If you want to replicate the fishy element, a mix of soy sauce with a bit of lime juice or seaweed can work well. For a vegan option, you can use a combination of soy sauce, mushroom broth, and a touch of vinegar.
While these alternatives can mimic the salty and umami flavors of fish sauce, they may not fully replicate its distinct taste. If the recipe relies heavily on fish sauce for flavor, the final dish might taste a bit different
