The Royal Mint has started circulating the first coins with the head of King Charles III.

A total of 4.9 million 50 pence coins will go into general circulation from today, with the coin featuring King Charles on one side, and a design that first appeared on Queen Elizabeth II's crown at her 1953 coronation, on the reverse..

The coins will be spread across 9,452 Post Office branches throughout of December with the remaining coins being minted in line with demand.
