Bori diye macher jhol is an everyday fish recipe for Bongs. This is prepared with the quintissential rui/katla- freshwater fishes which are a staple in Bengali cuisine along with steamed rice. This is a simple yet flavorsome fish recipe laced with bori/lentil dumplings- an added source of veggie protein and balanced with carbs from potato wedges. I am sure that everyone has a variation to this dish. However, you can try this @ home on any day of the week.
Ingredients:-
Rohu Fish/ Katla - 500 gms
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
salt as per taste
Sugar - 1/2 tsp (optional)
chopped coriander leaves - 1 small bunch
Bori/Lentil dumplings - 10-12 pcs
Slit green chillies - 3-4
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Mustard oil - 5-6 tbsp
Potato - 1 large (Cut lengthwise)
Chopped tomato - 1 large
Ginger paste - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
