MK-19 belt-fed 40mm grenade launcher fired in defilade. Most often a machine gun is used in Direct Fire, where the gun team can see the target. In defilade, the gun team is firing over and using terrain to protect the team from the direct fire and observation of the enemy which increases survivability of the position. In defilade, the gun team cannot see the impact of the rounds/explosions and if you are unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end, it is 40 mm rain from above.
