Gliders are aircrafts which stay in the air by the dynamic action of air against it's lifting surface. Unlike an airplane a glider does not need an engine. Gliders are usually launched by aerotow wherein the glider is towed by an engine powered aircraft to a desired altitude and dropped off. There are also winch launched and self launching gliders. Flying the glider on tow improves stick and rudder skills and it is also a lovely sport.
