It was day one of the Public Investment Corporation Commission of Inquiry. Chaired by former President of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Justice Lex Mpati, the Commission listened to the testimony of two PIC employees who went through the legislation and rules under which the PIC is supposed to operate. The Commission was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa to interrogate allegations that the PIC made questionable investments with the funds it manages -- the majority of which are for government employees.
