The CIA exam content is specialized. In Part 1 and 2, it specifically covers the knowledge and principles related to internal audit. Part 1 is the foundation level and you can expect to read more on the definitions and basic concepts on internal control and how internal audit is performed, together with the codes of the IIA.
In Part 2, it moves to the next level, covering the details of the same topics, with more focus on applications. The curriculum is more advanced and complex but interestingly, many candidates find Part 2 slightly easier than Part 1.
Part 3 is notorious to be the toughest among the three. The main reason, in my opinion, is that Part 3 has a much wider scope that touches topics beyond internal audit. These are important concepts relevant to IA’s every day and is very important, so I encourage that you study for it not only for the sake of the exam, but for general knowledge relevant to your career.
