Welcome to the Gasconade, Meramec & Southern Railway, a freelance narrow gauge short line that served rural communities and lead mines in southeastern Missouri in the 1950s. Join us as we take a journey back in time and explore this fascinating railway, winding through the eastern Ozark Highlands and serving the villages of Slate Creek, Coalmont, and Galena.

With its unique scale of 2-rail O and On30, car forwarding via switch lists, and a wireless DCC control system, the GM&S is a challenging and engaging model railroad to operate. The railway operates as a switching railroad with minimal running length between centers of switching activity. The Monroe Switch job works the GM&S arrival/departure yard at Monroe, while mixed trains 48 and 47 transport passengers and ore between Galena and Monroe, serving Slate Creek and Coalmont.

But the GM&S is not alone in its operations. The Frisco serves eight locations in the greater Monroe area and has freight transfer facilities with the GM&S and an interchange with the Missouri Pacific. The Cuba/Monroe Turn crew boards the arrived train in North Monroe and works North Monroe, Monroe, and South Monroe, making this a bustling area with a variety of operations.

With its walk-in single-level around-the-room layout and a peninsula, the GM&S offers a realistic and immersive experience for model train enthusiasts.
