To Make Shakshuka
Egg - 6 Nos
Onion - 1 No.
Capsicum - 1 No.
Canned Tomatoes - 800 Gms
Ghee - 2 Tbsp
Salt - 1 Tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
Paprika Powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
Cumin Powder - 2 Tsp
Pepper - 1 Tsp
Garlic - 10 Cloves
Coriander Leaves
Method:
1. Take oil in a pan and add onions to it.
2. Saute the onions for a minute.
3. Add chopped red capsicum to the pan.
4. Saute the capsicum for 10 mins.
5. Add salt, red chilli powder, paprika powder, cumin powder and pepper powder to the pan. Mix well.
6. Next, add in the finely chopped garlic cloves. Mix well.
7. Transfer the canned tomatoes into the pan and gently mash them.
8. Add salt if required and then simmer the gravy for 5 mins.
9. After 5 mins, add the chopped coriander leaves to the gravy and mix well.
10. Now make a little well in the gravy and then pour in the cracked egg from a bowl.
11. Gently drop in all the eggs in a similar way.
12. Do not disturb the eggs, cover the pan and cook them for about 3 mins.
13. For serving, take some gravy along with the cooked egg with a wide spatula and transfer it to the serving plate.
14. Shakshuka is ready and it can be enjoyed with bread and some vegetable salad by the side.
Shakshuka has been all over the internet for sometime now. That's when we decided to show you all this fun recipe. Now this is an African origin dish made with eggs and tomato gravy. Basically, eggs are poached on a bed of tomato gravy. It resembles our typical Indian tomato gravy curries but the taste and texture of the eggs are quite different from what we regularly make. Shakshuka can be enjoyed with any bread of your choice, it can also be enjoyed with herb rice or you can also enjoy as it is. Do try this recipe sometime and enjoy it with your family and friends.
