A Rube Goldberg machine is a series of interconnected simple machines designed to perform a simple task through a complex sequence of actions. The Rube Goldberg workshop is a signature project during the first phase of SSP each year. After all, bringing together 155 young talents from 35 different cultures to collaborate effectively is no easy feat.
Many physics and engineering teachers use Rube Goldberg machines to illustrate concepts in physics. At SSP, however, the Rube Goldberg workshop serves more as a dynamic team-building experience. Over 8 weeks, participants transition from first meeting each other to becoming close-knit teammates, successfully completing an outstanding team project. The Rube Goldberg workshop plays a crucial role in this transformative journey.
