West Coast Mazda's Brad Hansen is here to talk about a very special car - the 25th Anniversary of Mazda's MX-5.

The MX-5 is the #1 selling sports car in history. In February 2011, they reached over 900,000 units globally. And for a 2-seater sports car, that's really special. The MX-5 was designed to honour all the British racing cars from yesteryear, and nobody was producing a vehicle like it - and nobody has produced a vehicle like it. It's quite a rare breed of sports car you can purchase in the $20,000 range. That's always been a goal of the MX-5, to be an affordable car that delivers a special driving experience.

The MX-5 is not a 0-60 drag strip type of car, it really shines on the open road, cornering with ease. It offers a connectedness between the driver and the road. In BC we are known to have some fantastic roads and summers. The MX-5 is a great car for that. The retractable hardtop is there to change in 12 seconds from convertible to coupe if the weather turns sour. You can even retract it at a red light to go from coupe to convertible in seconds.

No other car on the road under the $100k mark will deliver the car and driver experience that the MX-5 does. Even the 25th Anniversary Edition is under $50,000, which is unheard of for a model of this stature.
