The post-independence Indian Historians have been putting the role of Sword in politics under the carpet. Hindol Sengupta talks about the History of Political Hinduism since earlier times. As the name suggests the author explores the current challenges that India faces and the engagement of Hinduism with the World politics.
About the Speaker:
Hindol Sengupta is an Indian historian and journalist. Sengupta lives in Delhi and is Editor-at-Large at Fortune India where he writes a weekly column. He is also a columnist for Aspen Italia and The New Indian Express. He was educated in South Asian history and politics at Worcester College, Oxford, as a Chevening Scholar, in business and finance as a Knight-Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University, and in journalism and film-making at Jamia Millia Islamia and Delhi University.
He is a celebrated author of multiple books: 'Being Hindu: Old Faith New World and You',
'The Sacred Sword', 'The Modern Monk', 'Sing, Dance and Pray: The Inspirational Story of Srila Prabhupada Founder-Acharya of Iskcon' and his recent book 'Soul and Swords - The History of Political Hinduism'.
