On 10 March 2021, Peru received a first batch of 117,000 COVID-19 vaccines through COVAX at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Callao. The vaccines were then delivered to the government warehouse (CENARES) for safe storage prior to distribution.
Peru’s Minister of Health received the delivery at the warehouse with Ana de Mendoza, UNICEF Representative in Peru, Carlos Roberto Garzón, PAHO/WHO Representative in Peru, and Igor Garafulic, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Peru.
