In order to change 19/25 to decimal form we need to divide 19 by 25. We know that since 19 is smaller than 25 we are going to end up with a number less than 1.
We can divide 19/25 with a calculator or do it longhand. In this video I did the division longhand (but checked my answer with a calculator). When we divide 19 by 25, we get 0.76.
So: 19/25 = 0.76
0.76 is less than 1 so that is a good way to check if our answer is reasonable. You could also multiply your answer by the denominator and you should get the numerator. In this case 0.76 x 25 = 19.
Note that 19/25 and 0.76 represent the same quantity, they are just written in different formats. 19/25 is a fraction and 0.76 is in decimal form.
