The BERNINA thread catcher is the device below the stitch plate that is responsible for grabbing and holding onto the thread as the cutter then cuts the top and bobbin thread. Over time lint and thread fragments collect in this device preventing it from functioning properly. So we are want to clean it to insure everything works properly.
In order to remind us to clean the thread catcher the machine keeps a tally of how many times the machine cuts the thread, so every 1000 thread cuts the machine prompts you to clean the thread catcher when we turn the machine on. When you turn the machine on and the clean thread catcher display pops up you can follow the prompts and clean it this will reset the counter. Option two is to go to the setting as shown in the video to clean the catcher both way resets the counter. You do not have to wait for the message to pop up, however once the message pops up it will continue to pop up until you clean and reset.
