The church is darkened after the Crucifixion of our Lord. The Priest & Choir sing the hymn "Come take ye the light that is never overtaken by night". They process into the narthex of the church and the doors are closed representing the gates of hades. The Priest (representing Christ) shouts thru the doors & breaks the gates of hades open releasing those in the Tombs. The elder of the church represents those in the tombs that will be risen with Christ.
