My friend Matt, from Flagstaff, Arizona, invited several folks along on an adventure to take in the Transcontinental Railroad Backcountry Byway, and the Pony Express National Historical Trail. This would include Tad from Hood River, Oregon; and Travis from Grand Junction, Colorado. It would be a rather quick trip along these two routes. However, due to sickness in the family, it turned out that Travis could not make it.
And, as usual for my overlanding adventures, I’d make the trip more than just the main event. This was an opportunity for me to visit with my daughter, Chloe, who lives in Albuquerque. And I had two Canadian friends, Jean and Nancy, who would be in southern Utah, and they were interested in doing a small run together. So, I tossed in a visit to the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque, and a drive out to Muley Point in Utah as a part of a more expanded trip. In Salt Lake City, I’d also meet up with Matt at the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum. And even during the return home, an incoming blizzard would provide some challenges. Join us on DxD Overland as we explore more of this amazing country. Part 3 covers the trip from Terrace townsite on the Transcontinental Railroad National Backcountry Byway, the along the Pony Express National Historical Trail and my return home. After the video is finished, I have a studio chat where I discuss a bit about this trip and some thoughts on finding folks to travel on your own overlanding adventures.
