I picked up this used 2 horse capacity Wallenstein manure spreader last year. While it was a great buy at the time, I quickly found out that it is almost impossible to get parts for it (at least here in TN and on the internet?). I LOVE this spreader, but I didn't love that I couldn't put as much manure in it as I wanted (working full time I don't have time to spread every day), and if I took the 4 wheeler pulling it over 3mph, it would sling poop forward and catapult me in the head (ew!).
So my father's ingenuity and my need for something that would make my life easier, plus some scrap metal laying around his garage, created this little door that serves as both a poo shield and a divider that closes off the rear of the manure spreader to allow the full capacity to be used.
You can lock the door in the open position, or let it do its thing, which is when the belt drives the poop back into it, it forces it upward, which opens it as you see here. No batteries or pto necessary. ;) It also works as a fines pan, where it allows the beaters to more evenly spread everything into a more fine spread leaving no big chunks behind.
