40 metres above the forest floor, looking out over the Saanich Inlet, we finished a yoga class before the Malahat SkyWalk even opens to this public. 🌲☀️🌊
This outdoor yoga class offers a chance to connect with nature, yourself and each other. I watched a bald eagle circle overhead in the perfect blue sky. I also spotted an owl and three wolves: intricate, lifelike driftwood art by local artist Tanya Bub. 🦅🦉🐺
Located off the Trans-Canada Highway between Nanaimo and Victoria, the Malahat SkyWalk has been enticing visitors with a treetop walk, spiral fairytale tower, fabulous views, bites and bevvies and programs in nature since 2021. 🍕🍦✨
The Tower Top yoga takes place every Wednesday and Sunday at 8:15 a.m. throughout the summer. If you have an annual pass, the Tower Top Yoga is included; for one-time visitors, it costs a few dollars more than regular admission. 🧘♂️
Arrive by 7:45 a.m. to give yourself time to climb to the top. The gently inclined ramp slopes upwards at a five per cent grade, making it accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.
To get down, you can ride the silver slide for a speedy, 10-second descent to the bottom. The enclosed slide has been used by a plethora of ages and abilities, from five-year-olds to 90-year-olds, and people who use wheelchairs and walkers.
Would you try yoga on top of the trees? 🌲☀️🧘♂️
