Aalu Nimki - Nepali Street Food
Aalu Nimki is a type of snack (street food) that is spicy, savoury and delicious. It's mostly popular in the East Nepal but slowly circulating all over Nepal.

Ingredients:
Red Onion
Chilli
Coriander
Lemon
Himalayan black salt (if you don't have it regular salt is also ok)
Chaat masala
Nimki (for recipe [ Ссылка ])
Baby potato (tastes much better than regular ones)
Aalu nimki sauce/gravy
For sauce/gravy:
3 tbsp plain flour
½ tsp orange food clouring (you can substitute it with turmeric powder if you don't like food colour but it won't give you as vibrant colour)
1 tsp himalayan black salt
1 tsp chaat masala
600 ml water
Instructions:
In this video I made it for 5 people but I will break the ingredients for 2 people.
1. Boil the potatoes (for 2 people about 3 to 4 baby potatoes) and once
cooked and cooled down, peel and dice them to medium-small pieces
2. To make the sauce - mix the flour and food colouring with water in a
saucepan
3. Turn the heat on to medium-low then add salt and chaat masala
4. Keep stirring until the sauce is thick enough or your desire consistency (I
prefer in between runny and thick). Turn the heat off and let it cool down -
lukewarm sauce is ok but don't serve it hot!
5. Chop onion, chilli, coriander
6. In a mixing bowl add 2 tbsp of chopped red onions, 1 tbsp of chopped
coriander, chilli (your choice how spicy you want), 1 small bowl of diced
potatoes, 1 tsp salt, 2 tsp chaat masala, ¼ lemon, 1 small bowl of nimki
and sauce.
7. Mix them all well and it's ready to serve!
Note:
The mixture is completely adjustable to your own taste - how spicy you want, how sour, how much onion 😊
Optional - You can top it up with any choice of dalmut, bhujia, roasted peas etc.
