Here is my latest model train review video and this one is the fourth model train in OO gauge that I got for my birthday and this is my second Hattons Originals Class 66 diesel locomotive in the DRS/Direct Rail Services Compass livery and is represented as 66404 on this example. The model has amazing details although sadly this one will lose a point from the final score as my example has paint missing from the cab door handrails. The reference number is H4-66-010 and there were some still left available when I bought mine.
I am pleased to mention that the model has no other issues and all the axle boxes are intact and this one did run okay out of the box and hasn't got the bouncing or the wobble issue like some have reported on theirs. The model is great overall and is one the kings of the heavy model trains as this one weighs in at about 750 grams and there is all wheel drive with a central can motor as well. Fantastic model overall and I will fix the paint issue myself and its nothing that I cannot handle but models should be made better with no defects ideally. Thankfully I can mend stuff and I will be adding a driver into the leading cab.
The model is packed really well and there is a set of alternative front air dams if you wanted to use a coupler on the front of the diesel locomotive. This one is 21 pin DCC and there is space for an EM2 speaker if you want sound. There are detailed cab interiors, rotating axle boxes when the train is moving and there is switches inside for the lights as well.
Handling is great during the performance test and the one I have runs fine with no wobble or bouncing issues. Maybe I have a later batch of these model trains. I don't know. The only issue was the paint on the handrails came off at some point and it should not have left the factory like this but its nothing that I cannot fix but it still loses a mark from the final score. I recommend these models still as they are cracking models to own and perhaps the most super detailed Class 66 you can buy and the prices are excellent for these.
